"Manage Subscriptions with Utterbond" empowers Shopify merchants to efficiently handle and customize their subscription offerings. From seamless customer management to flexible plan adjustments, this feature ensures a smooth subscription experience, enhancing customer satisfaction and retention.
Creating Subscription Plans
- Navigate to “Subscription Plans” and then click on “Create Subscription Plan”
- Add “Internal Name” and “Plan Name”
Please note: Add the internal name to identify the group in the admin and the plan name to display the group on the product page.
- Add “Frequency Prefix”
You can manage both "pay-as-you-go" and "prepaid" subscription orders. In the standard subscription plan, an order is placed on behalf of the customer for a chosen subscription period. Prepaid subscription orders are paid in advance but have scheduled fulfillment over time.
Please note: The label you add will appear on the subscription widget right before the frequency list.
- Add “Interval Label” and product shipping frequency
Please note: The frequency interval label will only be visible to customers on the product page. The "Ship product every" setting determines the frequency of product shipments. By default, customers are charged just before a product is shipped. Merchants can set shipping frequency by number of days, weeks, months, and years.
- “Apply Discount” to the subscription plan
Please note: Once a discount is set for a subscription plan, it cannot be disabled. This is because Shopify does not currently allow the deletion of fixed pricing. However, as a workaround, you can delete the subscription plan (including the discount) and create a new one. Here, two types of discount options are available: fixed-amount discounts and percentage discounts. Merchants can choose their preferred discount type.
- Add “Shipping After Cycle”
Please note: Modify the shipping rate of a subscription order after a certain number of recurring subscription orders.
- Go to “Advanced Settings”. Add minimum and maximum number of billing cycles. Set inventory policy and order date.
Please note: You can establish a minimum billing or fulfillment threshold for subscriptions, preventing customers from canceling before reaching this limit. Similarly, you can set a maximum billing or fulfillment limit, automatically canceling subscriptions when this threshold is reached. Additionally, you have the flexibility to schedule order shipments and billing for specific days of the week, month, or year.
- Add Description and click on Save

- Choose products/collections for subscriptions
Please note: Choose the products or collections to which you want to apply the subscription plan. You can add up to 250 products at once. For more than 250 products, add them in groups of 250, one by one.
- Add tags to the subscription plan. Enter the tag name and click on save.
Please note: Tags will be assigned to the customer or order based on the configuration below when the customer purchases the subscription through this plan. Tagging preferences can be set for orders, customers, or both.
- On the right-hand side, you can see the summary and preview of the subscription plan.
Please note: Here, you can see a summary of your subscription plan, including details like the number of products, frequency, and tag preferences. Below the summary, you can preview the subscription, with the option to "Customize widget settings."
